The England captain made his surprise return from injury on Sunday with a bang as he helped his side get back to winning ways.
Harry Kane was on target and so was Son Heung-min as Tottenham recorded a 2-0 victory against West Brom in the Premier League.
Kane had damaged both ankles in the defeat to Liverpool and had been on the treatment table for just over a week – but the marksman quickly got back to doing what he does best as he fired an stoppable shot past Sam Johnstone to put Spurs ahead in the 54th minute.
The Three Lions skipper has now found the net 208 times in 317 appearances for the north London side, which makes him the joint-second highest scorer in the club’s history alongside Bobby Smith.
He now needs 58 more goals to become the all-time top scorer for Tottenham. Jimmy Greaves, who hit 266 times in 379 games, currently holds that record.
“Harry Kane is a special player in the history of the club,” said Jose Mourinho after the full time whistle, speaking to BT Sport. “He will beat every possible record. We had very good individual performances today.
“At the end of the season you have the truth, we will be where we belong, where we deserve to be.”
