It appears AC Milan finally has a new player they will sign later today, he just landed in Milano to sign a new contract and become a Rossonero.
AC Milan has been negotiating with this player and his club for the past two weeks, he just landed in the city of Milano today. We are talking about Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori, the England international who didn’t have many chances under Frank Lampard. Despite being considered one of the most interesting defenders of his class, Tomori hasn’t been able to compete on par with other veteran Chelsea players. In his attempt to get the minutes he requires in order to reach his true potential, Tomori made a career-changing decision.
Given how well AC Milan is doing right now, he will arrive at a football club that can potentially make him a Serie A champion by the end of the current season. With Paolo Maldini at the helm of sporting operations, this AC Milan squad is giving young players the chances they need. Fabrizio Romano confirms it’s a loan for the rest of the season with a non-obligated option to buy him for €25 million.
Lampard hints at Tomori’s exit.
Given that he is currently Frank Lampard’s fifth choice as a defender, Tomori had to look for a new place to grow. The English manager sort of confirmed his exit today in a press conference ahead of this weekend’s activity: “I have five center-backs and I can’t do this job and expect to please every fan, that’s football,” explained the manager. “What players you should pick or not and when you are searching for consistency, or going on an unbeaten run, there were questions.
“I have to pick two at a time and the numbers don’t always add up. Fikayo is a developing player, a very good player,” added the Blues boss. “I have seen him rise from arriving at Derby when he was quite a quiet lad to being one of the best defenders in the Championship and a Chelsea and England regular so I think his journey has been great. His next step, whether it is on loan or not, he is going to be a top player.”
