At an age by when most players are already retired or seriously contemplate retirement, the Swede shows no weariness in his legs.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is an “example and inspiration” for all his young teammates at AC Milan, says George Weah.

A few eyebrows were raised when Ibrahimovic was picked up by Milan on a free transfer in January last year.

Those questioning Rossoneri’s decision had doubts whether the 39-year-old was capable of carrying the team’s attack or still had it in him to perform in one of Europe’s leading leagues.

It did not take long for the veteran striker to silence his critics, scoring 11 times in the first 20 games after his return to the club.

The Swede has continued his red-hot form in front of goal this season, sitting only second to Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo in the Serie A scoring charts with 12 goals in just eight games.

“Ibra is strong and confident, but there is more behind this,” ex-Ballon d’Or winner and Milan legend Weah told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Milan signed him because he can be very useful for young players. He is an example and an inspiration for them.

“He is always focused and he gives everything for his passion. If you work hard and don’t lose your passion, then age is just a number. Think about Pietro Vierchowod, Franco Baresi or Paolo Maldini, they all played at high level until almost 40 years of age.”
