Arsenal have been offered a timely injury boost following news that Gabriel Martinelli and Kieran Tierney are back in contention for spots.
Mikel Arteta would be hopeful to call on Arsenal duo Gabriel Martinelli and Kieran Tierney when the Gunners host Newcastle on Monday night.
The Scotsman has been one of Arsenal’s consistent performers this term and missed out on his side’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace last week due to a muscle injury.
Elsewhere Martinelli suffered an injury setback after returning to action following his recovery from knee surgery in December.
The Brazilian turned his ankle during the Gunners’ FA Cup third-round victory over Newcastle.
He was forced to sit out the Palace fixture alongside Tierney.
However, Arteta might be able to call upon both players when his side play host to the Magpies again at the start of the week.
The Gunners have confirmed both players are back in full training and could be in contention for a starting lineup on Monday night.
“Gabi is now back in full training and is available for selection,” a statement said on the club’s official website.
“Kieran has recovered from his tight calf and is back in training with the squad. Kieran will be assessed and tested ahead of Monday’s match.”
The Gunners also confirmed that Pablo Mari remains on the sidelines with a calf injury, meaning David Luiz could get an extended run in defense for the north London side.
