Robert Lewandowski got his name on the Bundesliga history books once again after breaking a long-standing record by Gerd Muller.
Another goal and another record for Robert Lewandowski who just can’t stop scoring at the moment.
The 32-year-old played a key role in Bayern’s treble run last season, firing 55 goals in 47 games across all competitions.
Of those efforts, 34 were recorded in the German top-flight. Lewandowski narrowly missed out on the European Golden Shoe by a mere goal behind Lazio’s Ciro Immobile.
As one would expect, the Poland international is leading the race for that award midway through the 2020-21 campaign.
Lewandowski took his tally to 21 goals after producing a trademark finish seven minutes into Bayern’s clash with Freiburg. With that strike, he got his name further in the Bundesliga history books.
Bayern were quick to release a congratulatory tweet to celebrate the Polish forward.
The experienced center-forward surpassed Muller’s mark of 20 goals in the first half of a single German top-flight season. It was a record that previously stood unmatched for 42 years.
Lewandowski secured a place alongside the Bayern legend in the club’s hall of fame a long time ago. However, he is now posing a claim to perhaps be described as the greatest ever striker in Bundesliga history.
