The Red Devils sit level on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League as they seek to win a first league title since 2013.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is taking it one game at a time and refuses to get carried away by Manchester United’s title chances, insisting there is still a long way to go yet.
Hopes of a first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in May 2013 have perhaps never been stronger. Despite a poor start to the season, United have moved level on 33 points with Liverpool at the top of the standings.
Even a point in Tuesday’s trip to Burnley will be enough to see the record 20-time English champions become the sole leaders.
“We’re not even halfway through the season, and every game in the Premier League is a challenge – they’re tests,” said Solskjaer as quoted by The Guardian.
“Every game is a different test. Watford – they gave us a test. Burnley is one test. Liverpool is another. Then you go to Fulham, which is a different test again. No one will remember how the league table looked like on 12 January 2021.”
The Red Devils head to Turf Moor on a 10-match unbeaten run (W8 D2), having last lost in the Premier League back on November 1 to Arsenal at Old Trafford.
And while they suffered a disappointing EFL Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of Manchester City last week, Solskjaer was pleased with how his squad bounced back to defeat Watford 1-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday.
But Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelof, and Luke Shaw are in a race to be fit for the Burnley match.
