On the day of his 79th birthday, we salute Sir Alex Ferguson. The Scotsman is arguably the greatest manager in football history.

Every 31st of December, the world of football celebrates Sir Alex Ferguson’s birthday and we’d like to join the festivities. Today, the legendary coach turns 79 years old and we need to talk about the incredible career he had. When he started his managerial career with East Stirlingshire, not even he imagined what he would become for football itself. Despite coaching even his native Scotland National Team, his name will forever remain linked to Manchester United.

As the Red Devils’ boss for 27 years, Sir Alex transformed the club into a family and became the epitome of a general manager in football. Nothing escaped his sights during his time at the club. It was almost as if he was the owner due to the massive influence he had in the club. His achievements got him named as the coach of the recent France Football Dream Team, an incredible honor for an incredible career.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s biggest target at United.

That famous phrase will forever remain as the biggest call to arms in Manchester United’s history. When he started his career in England, Liverpool was the biggest club in the world at the time. Ferguson famously said he arrived to “get Liverpool off their fucking perch”, and that’s exactly what he did. After 27 years, Sir Alex’s 13 league titles got United ahead of the Reds by two trophies.

Although he didn’t win as many European Cups, he did dominate the competition with very little opposition during his time in charge. The world will always remember Ferguson as the most important figure in Manchester United’s history. But his peers will always remember him as the best to ever do it on the bench. Congratulations to this legendary man on his 79th Birthday.
