Liverpool might be winning games at the moment but Jurgen Klopp has been ‘unhappy’ so far, claims club legend, Mark Lawrenson.
Jurgen Klopp has taken to a more fiery approach on the sidelines due to contentious calls and decisions against his side of late, says Lawrenson.
Liverpool might be three points clear at the top but it’s not exactly been smooth sailing. Injuries have seen their players stretched to the limit and it’s been make-shift formations from time to time, especially in defense.
Asides from that, a number of VAR decisions have gone against the reigning champions in such a fashion that has left Klopp visibly enraged on multiple occasions.
Just recently, the German manager even questioned the use of video technology, asking if it was any better for the game. The Reds boss has also taken a hit at broadcasters over kick-off times for his side.
All of this and many more leaves Mark Lawrenson convinced that Klopp is an ‘unhappy’ person at the moment.
“I think at the moment, although they won Tottenham and he’ll be delighted with the way they won, he doesn’t look happy with football,” the Liverpool legend told talkSPORT.
“I’m not saying he doesn’t look happy with Liverpool, the team or the results, but he just doesn’t look happy with football.”
“There’s VAR, and everybody has peeved about VAR, the lack of fans, and the big thing is the five subs rule.”
“I think Klopp has a point and everyone will come round to that. When he first said about having five subs I thought no, it just makes the stronger teams even stronger.
“But when you look at football now and the amount of games we’re having, they’ve had the whole European group campaign in about four of five weeks, which they’ve had to do, as well as league and cup games – it’s mad.”
