Haaland determined to close gap between Dortmund and Bayern

The young Norwegian marksman has been linked with a move to a number of high-profile sides but his focus remains on helping BVB.

Erling Haaland admits that Bayern Munich are a cut above the rest not just in Bundesliga but in all of Europe.

Dortmund fell out 3-2 losers to Bayern Munich when the two sides met last month for the Bundesliga clash. Prior to that, it was the exact same outcome as the Rhine-Westphalia-based side lost the DFL-Supercup final to the Bavarian last season.

BVB has always remained in the shadow of Bayern who have a rich domestic as well as European history.

Die Schwarz Gelben have managed only second-place finishes four times since 2013 – the last time they won Bundesliga – whereas Die Roten have clinched the trophy in each of the last eight seasons.

The current scenario is shaping up for a familial outcome as Dortmund sit at fifth and lag six points behind their rivals in the title race.

Haaland, who has been a constant bright spark in his side’s substandard league campaign so far, has now set his mind on closing the gap between BVB and the European and German champions.

“Right now, Bayern Munich are the best team in the world and we have to find a way to reach a higher level and beat them. We will try, with all our strength,” the 2020 Golden Boy told Tuttosport, via Football Italia.

“My biggest dream is obviously to win the Champions League. I want to win trophies with Dortmund.”
