Ahead of Barcelona’s first of three consecutive matches at Camp Nou, Ronald Koeman spoke about the main weaknesses the club has this season.
FC Barcelona has been struggling to find the ideal balance this season under Ronald Koeman in all competitions they are playing. Even though they started well in the Champions League, they lost the final match against Juventus to miss the top spot in their group. But their situation in the Spanish La Liga is the most pressing of them all.
They are currently having a hard time in the middle of the table with only 14 points so far. Contrary to other seasons, this FC Barcelona side is not even close to what we are accustomed to. When asked about the things they are doing wrong, Ronald Koeman had clear answers. However, there’s still no confirmation as to whether he is the man who can take them out of this path or not.
Koeman still thinks the players trust him.
Despite their situation, Ronald Koeman confirmed he thinks the players still trust him to change what’s happening right now.
Talking to Mundo Deportivo, Koeman said the following: “In general, we need to improve on our defense but it’s also not something I’m obsessed with. Analyzing all the mistakes, they are only three collective mishaps and the rest are individual. With Juve, we started off on the wrong foot because we allowed them to dominate us. You can get obsessed with the result but until the other day, we win in Turin and 15 out of 15 points.
“We are still missing a few things because the results are not up to the level we expect. There are mistakes we make during set-pieces, throw-ins, and we didn’t defend well the other day. We are the team that creates more chances. I think rock bottom is much worst than our current situation. We were better than Juve at their own stadium and they were better than us here.”
