Mario Balotelli is back in action and the player has officially been announced by an Italian side on Monday afternoon.
Monza have officially announced the arrival of Mario Balotelli and confirmed the former Italian international has signed a deal until June 2021.
The forward had been without a club since he split with Brescia, who were relegated from Serie A last season, but has now signed a deal for the rest of the season with former Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi’s Serie B team.
Balotelli came close to joining Championship side Barnsley and was also recently linked to Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama. However, none of those deals materialized.
The 30-year-old will remain in Italy and this time it’s with Serie B side Monza.
“Mario Balotelli comes to reinforce Monza and has signed a contract until June 30, 2021,” the club wrote in a statement.
“[After a stint at Manchester City] Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani brought him back to Italy in January 2013, and he helped bring Milan to the Champions League by scoring 12 goals in Serie A.”
“After a year and a half at the Rossoneri, with 26 goals in the League, he had a new prestigious experience in England with Liverpool. In January 2016, he returned to Milan, where he was also coached by Christian Brocchi, who now finds himself at Monza together with former Milan teammate Kevin-Prince Boateng.”
“Balotelli is one of only seven footballers who from January 1, 2000, has scored at least 20 goals in three of the top five European Leagues. Welcome Mario!”
