'Tottenham don't fear anyone' - Mourinho issues warning to Chelsea

Tottenham face arguably one of the biggest tests of the season away to Chelsea, but Mourinho is in a confident mood.

Jose Mourinho insists Tottenham fear nobody ahead of the visit to his former club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.

Spurs have already proved their might against top opponents this season in Manchester United and Manchester City. But this will be the first time they’ve faced a direct title rival in the Premier League – aside from perhaps Leicester.

Three points would not only restore their lead in the standings, but it would also keep their 100% away record in the league.

“You’ll have to ask [Chelsea coach] Frank [Lampard] if they fear us or not,” said Mourinho on Sky Sports when quizzed on whether there are any fears inside the Spurs camp.

“But I don’t think fear is the right word at this level. We don’t fear anyone.

“We respect their potential and I think they respect our potential. Honestly, I don’t think they believe they are going to play an easy opponent.

“I would love them to feel that way, but I don’t think they do. Frank is a man with a lot of experience in football and I think they know we are a difficult team that is capable to go there and win.”

An eight-match unbeaten run made Spurs the league leaders prior to Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at Brighton on Saturday. One point against Chelsea, though, will restore them on top of the table once more.

“We are confident because we work hard, but of course good results help you feel much better and give you more confidence to play better,” said Mourinho.

“Spirit is positive. The players have a great relationship between them, myself and my staff. We try to be their bosses but at the same time integrate that spirit.”
