Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has issued an injury update on two of his first-choice backline players following a 4-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir.

Manchester United are a step away from sealing a place in the Champions League knock-out stage after dismantling the Turkish side at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately, they had to pay a huge price, as two of the Red Devils’ regular defenders came off with injury concerns.

Axel Tuanzebe replaced Victor Lindelof at half-time while Brandon Williams took Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s spot around the hour mark.

Solskjaer is, however, hopeful that Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka will return to the fold for Manchester United’s Sunday trip to Southampton.

“Hopefully they are ready for the weekend, but we’re not sure,” he said when asked for an update on the pair, according to the Daily Mirror.

“Back problems for Victor and he had an ankle problem, Aaron.

“There was no point taking more chances and risk more swelling to it.”

After turning the tables on Istanbul, the Premier League giants have returned to the top of Group H. They are now three points clear of both Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig, with two group stage games left to go.

Solskjaer has also reflected on the way his men performed against the Turkish visitors on Tuesday night.

“I felt first half we saw the intent straight away, they wanted to play, and they enjoyed it,” the Norwegian manager added.

“It’s a Champions League night at Old Trafford, you’d expect them to enjoy themselves. We scored some very nice goals. I’m pleased.”
