Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe has issued an apology to the club, fans, and coaches after he picked up a needless red card against Leeds.
Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe says he is deeply sorry following his red card against Leeds United and says he has no excuses for his actions.
The 25-year-old was sent off during the Gunners’ goalless draw at Elland Road after he butted heads with Leeds star Ezgjan Alioski.
Referee Anthony Taylor initially missed the clash but was alerted to it by VAR and, after watching it again on the pitch-side monitor, showed Pepe a red card in the 51st minute.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said after the match that the Ivorian forward’s actions were unacceptable and he had let the team down.
Pepe has now accepted he made an error and on Monday night he took to social media to apologise.
“Yesterday I have let my team down at a crucial time of the game and there is no excuses for my behaviour,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I am deeply sorry and would like to apologise to the fans, my team-mates, my coach and everyone else at the club.”
Pepe will now miss Arsenal’s upcoming games against Wolves, Tottenham and Burnley as a result of his actions.
