Having rejected the contract extension to stay in the Premier League, Manchester City star talks about his future.
Manchester City youngster Eric Garcia did not reveal much information regarding his future with Barcelona. The Spanish international continues to be a Cityzen, however, is not sure about leaving the Premier League club. Garcia has been closely linked to a move back to Camp Nou in his hometown Catalunya. The defender moved to England in 2017 and has shown enormous growth with City and Spain throughout his career.
Although, Garcia’s agreement with Pep Guardiola’s side will end in the summer of 2021. And even after receiving a transfer extension, the Catalan refused to accept it despite rumors of a Barca move. This brings Ronald Koeman’s side back in the scene as they can lure the 19-year-old back to his homeland.
Happy to be with the team.
Garcia will try to keep his attention to the present and does not seem to care much about what the City future holds for him. He received questions regarding his plans, and he told El Mundo: “The only thing I can say is that I am a Manchester City player.
“I have a contract, and I am very grateful because they were the ones who bet on me.
“I’m grateful for the confidence of Pep [Guardiola], Txiki [Begiristan], everyone… and nothing, just that.
“Today I’m at City, but tomorrow you never know where you can be, maybe because you don’t perform, because of an injury…”
Man City and Barcelona share a similar style of play when it comes to attacking wingers. Though, Garcia is completely aware of his defensive duties with the English club.
He added: “My function is to defend, if you have to kick, you do it.
“If you have to give a kick, it is done. And if you have to go out with the ball, it is done. If you have to clear, it’s done.
“It’s true that I like to go out with the ball, also because in the clubs where I’ve been I’ve had to do it, but my first mission is to defend.”
