Former Manchester City midfielder Dietmar Hamann is convinced that the head coach will not stay for long at Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola is guiding Manchester City for the fifth year now having won two Premier League titles. Along with that, the Spaniard has managed to lift three Carabao Cups, and an FA Cup during his entire time at Etihad. Moreover, Guardiola certainly did not show any signs of going back to his old club Barcelona. Evidently, he took the Catalan side to new heights following immense support from stars such as Leo Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi Hernandez.
However, Dietmar Hamann, the former Man City player who played between 2006 and 2009 has some other thoughts. He urged that Guardiola should have been removed after the Lyon defeat in the Champions League last season. Furthermore, Hamann also thinks that the City boss will not stay at the club for a long time.
Hamann told German outlet Bild: “I can imagine that it will be his last season.
“It is only due to his name and good reputation that he is still there.
“Any other coach would have been kicked out after the embarrassing elimination against Lyon in the Champions League last season.”
And previously in September, Hamann insisted that City did ascend under the management of Guardiola. Speaking to talkSPORT, the German said: “The thing with Guardiola is he stays at clubs usually for no more than three years.
“I remember in Munich the players said after three years they were exhausted because he demands so much from them.
“I think a Guardiola team peaks after two or three years, maximum. He’s been at City for four years now. So I can’t see them improving this year as much as they have in the last few years.”
Nevertheless, Man City now stands on the 10th rank in the Premier League after six fixtures. Though they have a game in hand.
