Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke had a word of warning for Liverpool and Real Madrid over Erling Haaland’s availability.

Clubs interested in Haaland will have find another way to sign after Watzke denied claims of an alleged buyout clause at Dortmund.

The famed transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently claimed in his ‘HereWeGo’ podcast that the 20-year-old has a release clause in the contract he signed back in January that would be activated by the summer of 2022.

Interest from rivals in Haaland has been a near-constant ever since Dortmund signed him. But as to hopes of poaching him through a buyout clause, Watzke had some bad news.

“There is no such agreement,” the Dortmund chief told Bild.

“But that’s not the point either. It’s about convincing the players of your club and your plans. We have the clear wish that Erling will stay with us longer and we want to convince him and his advisor of this. I’m pretty confident about that.

“I think that Erling feels very comfortable at BVB. He definitely took the right step last winter by joining us. Personally, I would consider it wrong to leave in the next one after such a short time.”

The latest reports have linked Real Madrid and Liverpool with moves for Haaland.
