Jurgen Klopp doesn’t understand the criticism that has been aimed at Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah recently.

Salah provided the goods yet again for Liverpool in last weekend’s Premier League clash against West Ham United.

1-0 down, and at risk of surrendering top spot in the league table, the Reds were in a dire situation at Anfield until Salah won a penalty minutes before the break upon falling to the ground from an Arthur Masuaku challenge.

Despite minimal contact, referee Kevin Friend awarded a spot-kick upon reviewing the incident on a pitchside monitor.

Salah scored the penalty to put Liverpool back on level pecking in the game, but has since been slammed for his alleged theatrics. It’s not the first time he’s been accused of this act either.

“I don’t know what people need. What can I say? It was a foul, pretty much for everybody who saw the situation,” said Reds boss Klopp as quoted on SportsMax.

“Believe it or not, yesterday morning I spoke to Mo about how he feels and he has exactly three proper knocks, and one of them is from the penalty situation.

“There’s a knock, you go down or not, sometimes the ref whistles.

“We don’t talk for long about penalties we don’t get, but now three days after the game we talk about it, and there was clear contact.

“What can I say? No, I don’t understand the criticism.”

Diogo Jota later grabbed the decisive goal in the 85th-minute to keep Liverpool top of the Premier League with a 2-1 victory.

Klopp’s men will next take a tip to Atalanta for a Champions League match in Group D on Tuesday night.
