Happy birthday to Alphonso Davies! Bayern Munich star turns 20 today

Today we celebrate the 20th birthday of Bayern Munich and Canada star Alphonso Davies by taking a brief look back on the player’s career story.

If Alphonso Davies started writing journals, they would make one hell of a read!

The 20-year-old’s young life has taken him from a Ghanaian refugee camp, the outdoor wonders of Canada, to one of the world’s biggest football clubs in reigning German and European champions Bayern Munich.

Davies is now widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in football following his breakthrough progress in the last two years alone at Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the MLS and more recently Bayern.

The Canada international is blessed with an explosive pace, agility, dribbling, and passing skills among a host of other talents in his arsenal.

Last season was also the finest of Davies’ career to date, with the full-back helping Bayern win a treble in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League. He even claimed the German league’s Rookie of the Season award.

While on the international front, Davies has made 17 appearances for the Canadian national team. He is their youngest player ever, youngest goalscorer, and the youngest to score at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

And to think he’s only just turned 20 today!
