Jose Mourinho’s star-studded Tottenham suffered a 1-0 defeat from underdogs Royal Antwerp. Despite making five substitutions in the second half, Spurs could not overcome the host team in their second Europa League fixture.
On the half-hour mark, however, Antwerp took the lead after blunder in the Tottenham defense. Consequently, striker Dieumerci Mbokani stole the ball from Ben Davies to race towards the Tottenham goalposts. He then calmly squared the ball to Lior Rafaelov following his unstoppable effort past Hugo Lloris.

On the other side, Tottenham struggled to find their pace in the game even with Dele Alli and Gareth Bale in the starting XI. Furthermore, Mourinho brought in four substitutions on the half-line mark including Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane.
In spite of some improvement in the second-half performance, Tottenham could not grab the equalizer.
Nevertheless, Mourinho’s men kept the pressure on till the end of the game. But, Antwerp came inches close to putting on a double lead late in the second half. The sublime counter-attack from the home side led Simen Juklerod in who skied it past Lloris into the stands.
With this poor result, Tottenham now fall down to second place in the Group J behind leaders Antwerp with six points.
