Bernardo Silva is looking forward to his return to France and revealed that the player he would love Manchester City to sign is Kylian Mbappe.
Silva and Mbappe are acquainted with each other from their time together at AS Monaco. The pair made 44 appearances together and helped the club win Ligue 1 and reach the Champions League semi-finals in 2016/17.
They went their separate ways afterward, with Silva joining Manchester City in the summer of 2017 for €50m. While Mbappe headed to Paris Saint-Germain that summer on an initial loan deal before signing permanently a year later for €135m.
The 21-year-old has since become arguably the most exciting young prospect in Europe. More accolades have gone his way and a host of top clubs, namely Real Madrid, are said to be in hot pursuit of his signature.
But then again, why not City?
“He was already a special player for Monaco when I was there and he’s also a friend. If we could buy him, that wouldn’t be bad!” Silva told L’Equipe which French player he would like to see the Citizens sign.
City, meanwhile, head to Marseille on Tuesday night for their second Champions League game of the season in Group C.
And Silva, for one, has an excellent record against Olympians with four goals and an assist in five games.
The Portuguese winger added: “I scored my first goal with Monaco against Marseille. During my last season at ASM, I also scored twice at the Velodrome.
“It’s not easy to play at the Velodrome, even if we know that now it’s a different reality without the supporters. It will be a physical, complicated match.”
