After a rough week against critics, Zinedine Zidane wanted to respond to everybody right after winning El Clasico against FC Barcelona.

The overwhelming majority of critics were certain that Zidane would be willing to resign if he got defeated by FC Barcelona during El Clasico. Today’s performance gave the French manager that much-needed trust to continue building the trust he lost in recent weeks.

Winning against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou doesn’t happen every day, but ‘Zizou’ had a record that made us think it was possible. Out of six matches coached against FC Barcelona, Los Blancos’ boss has three wins and three draws. No defeats against the Blaugrana, which means he knows how to confront them.

This is one of the many reasons he was puzzled by so much criticism coming from the local press against him. After winning at Camp Nou, it was obvious he would say something in response to everybody who keeps doubting him. We wonder what the press will say after this response from Zidane.

‘Zizou’ also defends his players.

Right after the match, Zidane came out pointing fingers to the ones who doubted him. Diario AS got the following quotes: “We played a perfect match. It’s three points, that’s all. Now we have to rest and enjoy. We will enjoy this because we can, then we need to think about Tuesday because it’s coming fast.

“As far as the criticism we’ve gotten these days. We need to remain calm and play as we need to play. They have been quite unfair either with me or the players. I’m happy for them, they are the ones who fight and show character when you see how united they are.

“We got a result today as a team. I’m proud of the squad. We’re happy for the players. It’s a team victory. Our game was just perfect.”
