Ahead of the PSG vs Manchester United clash, Ander Herrera has hailed Paul Pogba as one of the world’s best players.
Ander Herrera has defended former Manchester United team-mate Paul Pogba and hailed him as one of the world’s best players.
The Frenchman was left out of the starting line-up for United’s 4-1 win at Newcastle.
Pogba has struggled for form since the start of the season but is hoping for a recall for his side’s Champions League opener away to Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday.
Herrera, who left United to join PSG as a free agent in 2019, believes his former teammate remains one of the most complete midfielders in the world despite his unconvincing start to the new season.
“I think he’s got everything and there are no others like him,” said Herrera in a press conference.
“He can play one-on-one, box-to-box, low or high, he’s got it all. All the skills and talent. He’s got the talent to be one of the best.”
Herrera also claimed United are going in the right direction under Solskjaer and suggested all managers can’t be expected to mirror the achievements of Sir Alex Ferguson.
“It’s not easy to compare with the time when Sir Alex Ferguson was there,” he continued.
“It’s not fair to do this, with players or managers. They are progressing. They have signed the right players. I don’t think they are going backwards – they are going forwards.”
United might have put four past Newcastle but they will face a much sterner test against the French Champions on Tuesday.
