As rumors started getting stronger, one of Real Madrid’s biggest targets just confirmed he will renew his contract for one more season.
Real Madrid has a few main targets who can arrive over the next few transfer windows, but one of them just renewed his contract with his current club. He is a Frenchman and we are not talking about Kylian Mbappe, so please chill. As the rumors of his exit were starting to pick up steam, Paul Pogba received a notice from Manchester United.
The Red Devils are executing their option to trigger a clause on his contract. When he arrived at the club in 2016, there was a specific clause that clearly states his current employer can unilaterally extend his deal for one more season. It was clear that Man United wasn’t playing around, they obviously wanted Pogba for more time.
Getting rid of him would be one of the most tone-deaf decisions in the club’s recent history. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already gave us a hint about the player’s future in an early press conference. However, the club made it official and confirmed it to the local media.
Pogba remains at United until 2022.
They just have to announce it but it’s already a done deal. Paul Pogba will remain at Manchester United until 2022, at least. What comes next for him is a struggle to convince his current employers that he doesn’t want to be there for more time.
His recent statements of someday playing for Real Madrid remain true to his heart. Paul needs to get a proper taste of what the Spanish La Liga is all about, but convincing United won’t be easy. Moreover, the club will do everything in their power to keep him. Regardless of what happens next, we can put all those rumors about his exit to bed.
At least we can enjoy him as a Red Devil for one more season, then we’ll see if they sell him to the highest bidder. Pogba is set to return to action over the weekend, when United travel to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United.
