After weeks of training with his old club, the Former Liverpool man re-joined Crystal Palace as the domestic transfer window closes in.

Defender Nathaniel Clyne rejoined terms with his debut club Crystal Palace on a short-term agreement.

The 29-year-old played his senior debut match with Palace in 2008. Evidently, Clyne left Liverpool as a free agent in June this year.

The former Palace man did not play for the 2019-20 season. This is because Liverpool played a friendly fixture vs Borussia Dortmund in July 2019. Consequently, he underwent an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the match.

Subsequently, during the last several weeks, Clyne is practicing with the Eagles’ first team.

The defender received his first 14 appearances under the reign of Palace boss Roy Hodgson.

A new beginning.

“I’m a London boy; this is where I grew up. I’m back home and all my family and friends are here,” Clyne said.

“It’s surreal being back, enjoying it and hopefully I can just crack on and enjoy my football again.”

Clyne made 137 appearance for Palace during his time before moving to Southampton in 2012. Further, he transferred to Anfield as Liverpool signed him after three years.

He played 103 matches for the Reds netting two goals. Later, for the season 2018-19, Clyne played for Bournemouth on a loan deal.

“Nathaniel is a fantastic character to have around. We’re delighted to secure his services for the upcoming period,” said Eagles chairman Steve Parish.

“He is a first-rate professional, just as he was when I first met him more than a decade ago. His presence and experience will be invaluable.”
