Frenkie De Jong has admitted to not having performed at the desired level in the previous La Liga match for Barcelona.

FC Barcelona suffered their first setback of the 2020/21 season last weekend as they were held to a draw at the hands of Sevilla.

The 1-1 draw also marked the first time the team the Catalans fail to secure a victory with Ronald Koeman at the helm.

While they still have their unbeaten streak intact, Barca missed a crucial opportunity to jump to the top of the La Liga table – a position currently occupied by archrivals Real Madrid.

A handful of Koeman’s men produced subpar display against the Andalusians but it was Frenkie De Jong who was thrown under the bus post-match by his manager.

“He lost too many balls and has not been fine like his other team-mates,” Koeman said of De Jong after the Sevilla game.

The midfielder is in agreement with his manager’s opinion as he admits to putting a ‘mediocre’ performance for his club last time out.

“I didn’t play at the top level against Sevilla,” said De Jong, speaking to the reporters ahead of the Netherlands’ Nation League match, via Goal.

“I was only mediocre. How is my form? We’ll see, but I feel good.”
