Portugal boss Fernando Santos says Cristiano Ronaldo ‘wants more, more and more’ in football despite all that he’s achieved in his career.
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to shatter records of the highest caliber at the age of 35 and shows no signs of easing off the gas anytime soon either.
The Portuguese superstar may be 35 now, but make no mistake about it – he remains as hungry as ever. A sixth Champions League and Ballon d’Or are within his sights for this season, along with other honors.
Next on the agenda for Ronaldo has to be Ali Daei’s record tally of 109 goals in international football after surpassing the 100-goal mark against Sweden last month.
“For Cristiano Ronaldo, it is always important to reach new records, as well as to be at the highest level and to be the best,” said Santos in a press conference as quoted on Eurosport.
“It feeds him, as I always said and I will keep saying whenever people ask me about the reason for Cristiano’s great form and if he can play until his 40’s…
“I’ve said it many times, when we met he was 17 years old, and I was impressed with his hunger to reach records, to win games, to score more goals and so on.
“And it hasn’t changed during all these years. I believe it’s crucial for him.
The former Sporting CP coach added on Ronaldo: “I recently said in an interview I’m sure that the day he misses this adrenaline or hunger to do more things, to reach records, and overcome himself, he will let us know.
“At the moment, he wants more, more, and more.
“He wants to overcome himself. That’s for sure.”
Ronaldo and Portugal will be in action on Sunday night away to France in a UEFA Nations League clash.
