The Chelsea striker ruled out a potential move to Ligue 1 as he expressed his desire to play in the MLS in the future.

Olivier Giroud disclosed that he has a desire to relocate to MLS in “a few years” while precluding a move to Ligue. He wants to play in the United States before the end of his career.

Since leaving Arsenal in January 2018, the 34-year-old striker currently plays for Chelsea.

Evidently, Giroud netted 29 goals for the club in 91 appearances, including one goal in three matches this season.

A threat for Giroud.

In any case, Giroud has tumbled down the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge. This is due to the inclusions of the new strikers Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, and Kai Havertz this late spring.

He connected with a transition to Inter in January. Though, the move did not occur for him. Giroud stayed with Chelsea with a more compatible role during the second half of the 2019-20 season.

The forward hints to leave the club. Although, he wants to play in a new league if he says goodbye to Chelsea.

“Honestly, a return to France is not my priority. It is not my priority career choice. I do not exclude anything, but if I have to change course, I am currently more focused on a new adventure in a foreign league,” Giroud told RMC.

“I hope to play at the highest level for two or three more years if my body allows me. Afterward, I never hid an interest in a possible challenge in the United States. It was relevant a few months ago, but it was much too early.

“I’ll think about it. I was also close to signing in Italy, I know that the Italians like experienced players. I won’t deny myself anything. It will be above all a question of opportunities at that moment.”

Giroud will feature in the France international team for the upcoming international fixtures. France plays a friendly against Ukraine, and two Nations League matches vs Portugal and Croatia.

During the last international break, the Chelsea star scored a penalty to win over Croatia by 4-2.

Giroud will go back to Chelsea after the international break as the Premier League continues.

Chelsea is set to play against Southampton on October 17 prior to facing Sevilla after three days to begin the Blues’ Champions League campaign.
