At an interview, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder admitted thinking about flying to Leeds United during the summer transfer season.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler disclosed that he did think about moving to Leeds United in the Premier League.

PSG signed Draxler for €42 million from Wolfsburg in January 2017.

The German international scored 22 goals with 32 assists since then, by making 145 appearances. Although, the midfielder did not link-up with current coach Thomas Tuchel.

Subsequently, he only played 11 Ligue 1 fixtures for Paris Saint-Germain in the 2019-20 season. And, he made some contribution to the club’s Champions League run.

Tough times for Draxler.

The 27-year-old indicated that he will leave the club in the summer transfer window. Moreover, he has entered into his last year of the deal. And, he received an offer from Elland Road during his possibility to move.

However, Leeds could not complete the signing of Draxler. He will not have to wait until the opening of the next transfer window to leave the club.

PSG managed to achieve great success in the season 2019-20. Though, Draxler had contrary ideas about last season.

“Last season didn’t go well at all,” Draxler told Bild. “Not on a sporting level and also due to my injuries, then the season ended due to coronavirus. It was definitely a season to forget for me.”

The German revealed that he did find a suitable option for him to grasp while considering a move.

“In the summer I thought about trying to do something else,” Draxler said. “Due to the coronavirus situation, it was ultimately difficult to find a club where I would have said: ‘Everything fits well together, I definitely want to [come here]’.

“That was not the case, so I decided that I would not dare to take a quick shot and keep looking for my chance at Paris.”

He was asked if he would go to any other club for fewer wages. Draxler said: “Definitely. The top priority is not to sign a contract with the same salary. The overall package just has to be right.

“That I can imagine playing in the club, that good football is played there and that I play an important role – that would be the great sense of a change at this point, one year before the European Championship.

“Next year things will look easier when I’m free and another club doesn’t have to negotiate a transfer with Paris.”

Even though Draxler wants to find a way out of the French capital, he believes that he will not play much for the club.

He said: “I had a good conversation with Thomas Tuchel. I felt then that I still had the chance to be deployed and that I was definitely not written off.”
