As per the latest reports, Tottenham have agreed to sign Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.

Vinicius is expected to join Spurs on a season-long deal with an option to make the move permanent for around £40m next summer. The forward is working on getting his permit at the moment.

Mourinho has not hidden his thoughts about securing a back-up option/partner for Harry Kane since he was appointed Spurs boss.

Mourinho might have gotten his wish after Spurs and Benfica agreed to a deal on Wednesday for Vinicius.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that the deal is in the late stages of being a done deal.

The Brazilian is set to finalize the terms of the transfer in London before the end of the week after getting the all-clear from Benfica.

Vinicius is regarded by Jose Mourinho as capable of providing quality cover and competition for Harry Kane.

The forward, who joined Benfica from Napoli for £15 million last summer, has an impressive goalscoring record.

He banged in 24 goals in all competitions last season from 49 appearances and also weighed in with 13 assists.

At 6’3″, Vinicius offers the physical presence desired by Mourinho in a center forward. In what has been a hectic schedule for Spurs so far, the addition of another attacking name could come in handy.
