Manchester City’s boss Pep Guardiola did not have much to say when asked about buying Lionel Messi for next season.
Pep Guardiola refused to open up regarding whether Manchester City would be eager to pursue signing Lionel Messi for the next season. Pep did not say much in regards to the topic.
Messi stayed with FC Barcelona to avoid reaching legal reasons between him and his loyalty to the club.
It appears City would have been the ideal club to sign Messi had he gone through with quitting Barca. However, the Argentine will stay with the club till the end of 2021.
Pep kept it clean and professional when asked about Man City considering signing Messi. He stated, “Leo explained quite well his feelings and I don’t have anything to add.”
Furthermore, he proceeded to add “He is a football player of a club I love, FC Barcelona and I have nothing more to say.”
Guardiola and the Argentinian football star have a previous history. Pep whether City will push to sign Messi as a free again. His response was simply stating “I don’t know”.
The Blues bought in Ferran Torres from Valencia and Nathan Ake from AFC Bournemouth. Nevertheless, the two new players are not anticipated to play for the first team.
On the other hand, Pep has expressed having no interest in signing a previous midfielder Thiago Alcantara. One that he has grown familiar with from his time as a coach at Bayern Munich.
“Since day one when I arrived here, I am more than satisfied with what I had in the team,” Guardiola said in an interview.
“I know the club does absolutely everything, not just for me but for all of us. What is going to happen is going to happen. If we have to stay with the players we have, we will be happy.”
It has been mentioned that Sergio Aguero is unfit for the start of the season due to the June knee injury he sustained, he has currently begun training again.
In addition, Aymeric Laporte will not participate in the game against Wolves. As he has only had one training season due to the contraction of the coronavirus on City’s offseason. Therefore, Ake, the center back is likely to play instead.
