Andriy Shevchenko has hailed AC Milan’s decision to keep hold of 38-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic for another season.
Ibrahimovic returned to Lombardy back in the winter to help turn Milan fortunes around. Before reuniting with the Swedish powerhouse, the Rossoneri had been struggling in mid-table.
But, the towering striker’s return resurrected the fallen giants, propelling them to Europa League qualification. Ibra bagged ten goals and added five assists in 18 Serie A appearances back in 2019/20.
That decision has faced mass approval from the fans, and now, one of the club’s best-ever players has given his plaudits.
Shevchenko, who spent eight years at the San Siro, racked up 175 goals in 322 appearances en route of winning Scudetto, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League.
The former hero has now praised Milan’s optic to maintain their relationship with Ibrahimovic for another 12 months.
“He has done what we expected from him,” he said, as relayed by Football-Italia.
“If he still has something to give, if he’s still motivated, I would always keep him.
“He played with intelligence and guided his teammates. Ibra always responds on the pitch.”
