Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly on the verge of landing AS Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi after failing to snatch Hector Bellerin from Arsenal.
Florenzi, who spent the second half of the last season on loan at Valencia, has returned to Roma but only to move on before the deadline passes.
According to the Metro, the versatile 29-year-old defender is on his way of signing a season-long loan deal at the Parc des Princes.
Thomas Tuchel has made the signing of a new right-back his top priority after parting ways with Thomas Meunier earlier in the summer.
The Belgian defender departed for Borussia Dortmund, leaving Thilo Kehrer as the only option for a right-back position.
Tuchel is, therefore, keen to add a new wide defender to compete with the German for a place in the starting eleven.
Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin had initially emerged as PSG’s prime target.
However, despite being reluctantly willing to let the Spaniard leave to raise funds for their spending campaign, the Gunners have prised PSG out of the deal.
Indeed, perennial Ligue 1 champions have deemed Arsenal’s £30million valuation of the 25-year-old excessive. So, they moved on to Florenzi.
