Manchester United have only signed Donny van de Beek in the current transfer window and it has not sit well with Gary Neville.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team was spread thin in the 2019/20 campaign. First-team regulars were battling injuries in their push for Europa League glory.

The Red Devils need reinforcements but only Donny van de Beek has been signed so far. Gary Neville gave a scathing indictment of the work done by Ed Woodward and Co.

The Manchester United legend cited the examples of Chelsea and Manchester City, who have efficiently added to their ranks.

Neville shared that the Red Devils’ inability to reinforce is not a freak occurrence but a trend over the last five years.

“Like everyone else they had three months off because of coronavirus, so I don’t think it should be the case they didn’t have the resource or time to get things done,” talkSPORT quoted the Manchester United legend.

“Chelsea got their business done, [Manchester] City have got three or four pieces done. I don’t think timing’s the issue.

“It’s just a thing with United that every time they go for a player in the last four, five, six years it feels they are a little bit desperate.

“They think they can hang on but they always pay it [the asking price] in the end.

“That’s sometimes where I think you can take control, give a hard deadline and say “we’re moving away from this deal.”

Despite their poor record in bringing players to the Old Trafford dressing room, United have been successful with their recent addition. With the exception of Odion Ighalo, all the players signed in 2019/20 campaign became first team regulars.
