Christian Pulisic has made a better start to life at Chelsea than Eden Hazard did, says former Blues striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Christian Pulisic has been nothing short of a revelation at Chelsea, says Hasselbaink.
The USMNT star joined the Blues in a deal worth €65m from Borussia Dortmund in January 2019.
Pulsic was loaned back to the Bundesliga giants before returning to join his new teammates last summer.
If anything at all, the 21-year-old has lived up to the hype that saw Chelsea churn out that much for a youngster.
A slow start to his Blues career saw him pick form towards the turn of last year with the highlight his hatrick against Burnley.
His tally of nine goals and four assists meant he had the most goal contributions for any player 21 and below last season. If not for injuries here and there, that tally could have even been better.
Pulisic has started to draw comparisons with Eden Hazard. The Belgian is one of the most influential players to ever play for the Blues and made his mark on the club in his seven-year stint in West London.
Infact, Hasselbaink believes the 21-year-old has the potential to do better than Eden Hazard did in a Chelsea jersey.
The ex-Blues forward told Gentingbet: “Christian Pulisic has been a revelation.”
“If you compare him to when Hazard first came to Chelsea, Pulisic has in my opinion done better. Hazard then went and became an absolutely brilliant star and carried everyone on his shoulders by winning games on his own. Pulisic can be the same – maybe even better.”
“It’s not fair to compare them but Pulisic has done magnificently. I would just like him to be a little bit more clinical in terms of goals. I think he can score more goals.”
