Arthur Melo is convinced his former Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez would be a great coup for Juventus if he were to join.

Suarez is surplus to requirements under new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman and is now the subject of interest for several clubs, with Juventus recently joining the fray.

The Serie A champions are on the prowl for a new striker this summer as Gonzalo Higuain prepares to leave Turin, and had expressed an interest in AS Roma’s Edin Dzeko.

But while latest reports from Italy claim their interest in the Bosnian striker hasn’t faded yet, a surprise name in Suarez is now on the table. It’s alleged Juve are in advanced talks and have a deal in principle agreed.

Should this prove true, Suarez will reunite with former Barcelona teammate Arthur, who joined the Bianconeri earlier this summer, in the Serie A.

“I haven’t spoken to him and I don’t know his situation,” said Arthur at his official presentation as quoted on Marca.

“He’s a great player and he would undoubtedly bring a lot to the team.”

Arthur had a less than amicable exit from Barcelona after a trade deal involving himself and Miralem Pjanic was announced earlier in the summer. However, he had nothing bad to say on his old employers.

“I can only say thank you to Barcelona,” the Brazilian said to questions about his departure from Camp Nou.

“They treated me very well and I was part of an ambitious project. I thought that [joining Juventus] could be an important step up in my sporting career.”
