Ronaldo Koeman replaced Quique Setien at the helm of Barcelona, with former teammate Eusebio admitting he always knew it would happen.
Ronald Koeman has had quite a managrial journey. He has overseen teams in Netherlands, England, Portugal, and is now at the helm of Barcelona. It was always his plan to return to Camp Nou and has realized his ambition.
Eusebio Sacristan shared the dressing room with him for five years and hailed his former teammate. The Spaniard was pleased with his appointment and believes he always had faith in Koeman to lead the Catalan club one day.
He hailed the Dutchman’s association with the Camp Nou faithful and believes he has the character to withstand the pressure at the club.
“In the past, he has already stated on many occasions that he would love to coach Barcelona and now he is sure very excited about having the opportunity to do so,” the retired Spanish midfielder was quoted by Sports Finding.
“Since he left the club as a player and then started training, I was clear that sooner or later Koeman would end up managing Barcelona because of everything he means to this club and because of the conditions he has as a coach.”
“I consider it prepared for any circumstance. Koeman has always been characterized by having a great personality and great determination when it comes to making decisions and he will lead a new stage at Barcelona in which he will try to establish his stamp.”
Tough times await Koeman in La Liga. The club are looking to ax long time, first-team players. They face a bleak future with Lionel Messi stating he wants to leave Barcelona in search of pastures new.
