Eusebio Sacristan has been out of a job for over a year and the former Real Sociedad manager is gearing for his next opportunity.

Eusebio played over 200 La Liga games for Barcelona. It would not be the end of his association with the Catalans, as he joined Frank Rijkaard’s staff at the Camp Nou.

The retired midfielder went on to lead Celta Viga, Real Sociedad and Girona. He has not been in the dugout ever since the latter relieved him of his duties.

The passion still burns brightly in his heart and Eusebio is gearing for his next challenge.

“I am preparing for the opportunity to come. It has been more than a year since my time at Girona ended and I am looking forward to training again,” Eusebio told EFE

The Spanish tactician is not affected by the new normal forced by the coronavirus pandemic. He is following games on the television and keeping upto date with his network online.

“It is true that there are more limitations and that you cannot travel to visit clubs and coaches, but there is also the possibility of following the games on television and progressing with my work team, in addition to holding meetings with different people to keep up to date . The opportunity should catch us prepared.”

Eusebio shared the pitch with Ronald Koeman and is pleased that his former teammate has fulfilled his ambition of leading Barcelona. The 56-year-old shared that he is in contact with Koeman and will visit him once the chaos at the Camp Nou has subsided.

“At the moment we have sent each other a WhatsApp message with the idea that I can pay you a visit when it is fully installed and the situation is calmer. I intend to come over to see him to wish him the best of luck and attend some training.”
