Arsenal have signed young Gabriel Magalhaes, with the defender attributing Mikel Arteta as the defining reason for his move.
Napoli and Everton wanted to sign Gabriel Magalhaes. However, it is Arsenal who will be adding the Brazilian defender to their ranks.
The Gunners have completed the signing of Magalhaes for £25 million from Lille. The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the North London club.
Magalhaes shared that Mikel Arteta helped him make up his mind in joining the Gunners over other options. The Sao Paulo native shared that he expects a tough time in Premier League and the Spanish coach has informed him of that.
“Having the coach himself calling you to say he wants you in his squad motivates you a lot. That is the very reason I am here today,” Football London quoted the defender.
“We did not talk about [details], he just told me he is aware of my quality, my capacity and how far I can go. He also said he will be very demanding with me.
“I know he is a great coach and I will make progress with his help.”
Arsenal will have a new-look defense at the Emirates this season. Gabriel joins William Saliba at the club, and the duo will be blooded in English top-flight football.
