Pioli discusses Milan's approach & objectives for 20/21 season

AC Milan still have a lot to learn but they must try to make the most of their positive ending to the last season, says Stefano Pioli.

AC Milan managed a sixth-placed Serie A finish in 2019/20, earning an opportunity to reach the Europa League group stages through play-offs.

The Rossoneri’s surge to the top half of the table was powered by their post-lockdown unbeaten run, which was down to the tactical changes made by Stefano Pioli.

Pioli was able to convince the club hierarchy that he is the right man to take the team forward and was in turn rewarded with a two-year contract extension until June 2022.

But the real test for the Italian manager lies ahead as his side prepare for the next season in which they are expected to compete for a Champions League spot.

The 54-year old admits his team is far from being a finished piece of work but suggests the players are in solidarity and intent on reaching the goals.

“We all start the new season from scratch, but the team must remember what we built together,” Pioli told in an interview with Milan TV.

“The ideas, philosophy and desire to work together at Milanello are all the same. We’re a young team that haven’t been together long, so we’re still laying some of the foundations.

“It’s certainly an advantage that we did so well over the last few months, as I know the team, am well aware of what they can give and what I can expect from them.”
