New Lazio signing and veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina has vowed to give his best for the club after joining them recently.
Lazio completed the signing of Pepe Reina earlier today.
The goalkeeper was on loan at Aston Villa from AC Milan before he was snapped up by the Biancocelesti.
Reina turns 38 later this month but remains keen on playing in the Champions League again. He is expected to be a back-up option to Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha.
Simone Inzaghi’s side put out a title challenge for a good part of last season but ultimately failed to keep up their charge.
Ahead of the new season, reinforcements and backups are needed in all areas and Reina will cover in the goalkeeping department.
Speaking after his transfer was completed, the Spanish goalkeeper wants to do his best for his new side.
“I chose Lazio because they are an important reality in our football,” he told Lazio Style Challenge. “This is a project that wants to keep growing to win something important.”
“I come with humility to lend a hand.”
“This group have been working together for some time and has an automatism that must be exploited.”
“Even greater cohesion within the group will be needed and it will certainly come.”
“You have to be ready for anything. We want to do well in every competition that we will be called up to play in.” Reina continued.
“We will do our best and honour the jersey in every challenge. This is football: I want to pass this on to the whole group.”
