Jordan Henderson is hoping that Liverpool can maintain their momentum from last season as they prepare to begin their title defense.
2019/20 turned out to be one of the most enjoyable seasons for Liverpool fans as they witnessed the end of a 30-year-long wait when the team clinched the Premier League title.
Liverpool were utterly dominant in the previous campaign. Biggest ever points-gap (25), earliest title win (with seven matches to spare), most points won from 38 matches (110), most home wins (18), most overall wins in a season (level with Manchester City at 32) are just a few records they claimed.
It was an ultimate power statement from Jurgen Klopp’s men, who had already celebrated the Champions League and Club World Cup successes earlier.
They are now preparing to play Arsenal in the Community Shield final. And after that, they welcome newly-promoted side Leeds United to start off their title defense.
“We’ve been cracking on, really working hard. New season, new start, and a lot more things we want to go on and achieve,” said captain Jordan Henderson, speaking to the club’s official website.
“[I’m] really excited to see what we can do this season, another big season for us. Hopefully, we can take confidence from the last year or two but we need to stay hungry and need to keep the desire to go and want more.
“I can certainly see that from the first days that I’ve watched training in pre-season.”
