Harry Maguire will meet Manchester United officials to discuss his future as captain after being deemed guilty of three charges in Greece.
A Greek court has handed Maguire a 21-month suspended prison sentence after deeming him guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery.
The Manchester United captain was arrested, along with his brother and a friend, after claims his sister, Daisy, was injected with a ‘rape drug’ led to a brawl while on holiday in Mykonos.
Maguire, who has always protested his innocence against the charges, plans to appeal against his sentence after withdrawing from the England squad for next month’s Nations League games.

He will also meet some senior United officials to discuss the role of captaincy. A meeting will take place in the upcoming days between the two parties. Although chances of Maguire losing the captain’s armband are low at this stage.
“What I’m told right now is there is no suggestion that Harry Maguire will have the captaincy taken from him,” wrote Sky Sports journalist James Cooper.
“Manchester United have been as supportive as any club could possibly be in these circumstances.
“There will be conversations ongoing and this matter certainly isn’t closed.
“A lot of it depends on face-to-face chats between Harry Maguire, Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward. Then, perhaps a decision will be made.”
