Die-hard Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher has jumped in defense of the Citizen’s decision to erect a statue for David Silva.
Manchester City shocked a lot of football fans with their announcement just last week. In less than a fortnight since his departure, David Silva will get himself a statue in front of the Etihad.
The club announced this last week alongside news Vincent Kompany would also get a statue for his achievements while at the club.
It’s agreed David Silva played a key role in City’s rise to being a force in England. The question is if his achievements were enough to warrant a statue is one that will linger on.
A good number of rival fans have so far claim the Spaniard was not deserving of a statue.
Oasis legend and well-known City fan Noel Gallagher reflects on Silva and his achievements while at the Etihad. He explains why the 34-year-old deserves to be immortalized at the club.
“Let me just point out that David Silva has got more domestic medals than Bobby Charlton, George Best and Denis Law put together,” Gallagher said on talkSPORT.
“Best, Law and Charlton have ten domestic medals between them”I heard Jim White the other day saying, ‘Is David Silva a legend?”
“Hang on a minute, I was listening to your show one day and you said, ‘Coming up, Man City legend Paul Dickov.”
Whether or not Silva merits the statue, he is arguably one of the most influential players in the club’s history.
