Barcelona are reportedly lining up a summer move for the €30million-rated Manchester City left-back Angelino.
After putting Jordi Alba and Junior Firpo on the market, Barcelona have turned their attention to the Manchester City loanee Angelino.
Ronald Koeman, who took charge of the team on Wednesday, is eager to make his mark at Camp Nou and is ready to offload almost the entire squad.
Both left-backs Alba and Firpo are up for sale, which frees up space for a new wide defender.
As reported by Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail, the Catalan giants have set their sights on Angelino, who enjoyed a stellar loan at RB Leipzig the last term.
Angelino began the 2019/20 campaign at the Etihad. But, after putting together just four Premier League starts, he crossed over to Leipzig on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 23-year-old excelled at the Red Bull Arena, helping his side secure top-four finish in the Bundesliga and reach the Champions League semi-finals.
After reeling off a series of jaw-dropping performances, he was expected to receive another opportunity to establish himself at Manchester City.
However, Pep Guardiola, who’s looking to recruit a new left-back, seems reluctant to keep Angelino beyond the summer.
The Spaniard is unhappy with Benjamin Mendy’s injury proneness and lack of form and is scouting Europe for a new wingman.
Instead of bringing Angelino back to the club, Guardiola would rather like to cash in around €30million on the Spanish youngster’s services.
Indeed, that’s the same figure Julian Nagelsmann’s side have to fork out to keep the attacking-minded left-back in the Bundesliga permanently.
Since Barcelona’s regular cash flow suffered a devastating blow of the coronavirus crisis, it’s still uncertain whether they can afford to splash out such a figure on a left-back.
The Blaugrana are also interested in Angelino’s fellow Manchester City teammate Eric Garcia.
The 19-year-old central defender has already turned down the offer to extend his contract in England.
Despite being handed regular first-team action since the resumption of football, Garcia is determined to return to his homeland with Barcelona.
He came through the ranks at Camp Nou before moving on to Manchester City as a teenager in 2017.
