Juventus want Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira to terminate their contracts, while new coach Andrea Pirlo cuts many players from the squad.
Juventus are ready to offload some players this summer. The duo of ‘old guard’ Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira find themselves in that bracket.
It’s no secret that the Serie A champions might let some players leave this summer. The likes of Douglas Costa and Aaron Ramsey are up for sale should the right offer come in.
New boss Andrea Pirlo is ready to bring in some changes at the club ahead of next season. First on his priority list is to trim Juve’s ‘over-populated’ squad.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Pirlo is ready to enact a cull of the old guard as he takes over from Maurizio Sarri.
The main concern is that Higuain and Khedira have no intention of terminating their contracts early, whereas Juventus are working to make that happen.
These two veterans will both want at least some of the outstanding salary as a golden handshake to leave the club, so it will be a costly operation.
After Blaise Matuidi broke away to join MLS side Inter Miami as a free agent, Juve are hoping Khedira and Higuain will follow his lead.
Asides those names, players like Federico Bernardeschi and Alex Sandro are reportedly up for sale as well.
