Inter Milan meet Sevilla in the Europa League final and Argentine hotshot Lautaro Martinez wants to win it to finish the 2019/20 campaign.
For ten years Inter Milan have lingered in the shadows. The Nerazzurri have been a shadow of their former selves. It has been the arrival of Antonio Conte that has seen them relive past glories.
Inter finished 2019/20 Serie A season in second place, a poinnt behind champions Juventus. They were dumped out of Champions League after the group stages. However, they have found a new lease of life in Europa League.
In the coronavirus pandemic impacted return has been difficult for everyone. Lautaro Martinez accepts the new normal but believes they have grown as a team in Germany.
The prolific Argentine attacker hailed Inter’s work ethic under Conte. Martinez believes victory over Sevilla will be a just reward for their toils and is eagerly awaiting his first piece of silverware.
“It’s been great [in Germany]. It’s been a very difficult year for everyone, but we’re actually very happy with what we’ve achieved since the year started,” Martinez said in an interview with UEFA.com.
“We’ve grown a lot, in fact. And we’re feeling good in Germany. We’re very focused, very involved in what we’ve got ahead of us. And we’re preparing really well.”
“I think the team’s personality and day-to-day work ethic have shown that Inter are growing [as a team] and building to achieve great things.”
“And, on a personal note, [I want] to try to win my first title with Inter, which would be very special. It’s the first final [for me]; it could mean the first trophy of my career,” Martinez added.
