Taison fancies Shakhtar's chances against Inter Milan

Shakhtar Donetsk have a tough encounter against Inter Milan but Taison believes they can progress at the expense of Serie A runner-ups.

Inter Milan finished a point behind Juventus in the Serie A title race. Their dreams of silverware are still going strong as they battle it out in the Europa League.

Shakhtar Donestk are their rivals in semi-finals. The Ukrainian side are wary of the Italian side and the superstars in their roster.

Taison was one of Shakhtar’s heroes and believes they have the capability to defeat them.

“A team that finishes second in Serie A is one we have to keep a close eye on,” Football Italia quoted Taison.

“Inter have great players, including many internationals. It’s an important match for everyone, a one-off game without a second leg, so I see it as 50-50.”

“We didn’t get here as a fluke, we earned our place in the semi-finals and hope to repeat the performance that saw us beat Basel 4-1. Naturally, we respect Inter, but won’t stop playing our usual way.”

Taison understands that winning the Europa League will not be easy. However, the Brazilian harbors the ambition of making history for the club.

“We’ve had this dream of reaching the Final from the moment we played against Benfica,” continued Taison.

“We knew it’d be difficult up against strong sides, but we want to enter the history of this club. We’re just one game away from the Final.”
