Kai Havertz has already made Bayer Leverkusen aware of his intention to move forward in his career, informs Fernando Carro.

With each passing day, talks of Kai Havertz’s potential switch from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea grows increasingly intense.

It is suggested that Frank Lampard is eager to make the German midfielder his third signing, after securing the services of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

However, it is his hefty price tag that is acting as a stumbling block for Chelsea in completing Havertz’s transfer.

Recent developments indicate that the Blues are only willing to pay up to around €78 million (£70m) but the German side are adamant about not accepting less than €100 million (£90m).

Clearing the air on the speculations, club CEO Fernando Carro admits that Havertz has his heart set on a move, but they are yet to relieve any formal offers for him.

“It has always been clear that there will be talks once the Europa League is over for us. Still, there is no formal offer yet,” revealed Carro, speaking to German newspaper Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger.

“Kai has told us about his desire to make the next step. Whether that can be materialised soon, I can’t say at the moment.

“There are several clubs who have Kai in their plans for the future.”
