Jurgen Klopp has been named the 2019/20 Premier League Manager of the Season for ending Liverpool’s 30-year-long title drought.
The three-decade-long wait of the Liverpool fans finally came to an end when their team was declared the Premier League champions with seven games to spare.
Liverpool had an excellent first half of the season as they went on an impressive 18-match unbeaten run. It was Watford who prevented them from bettering Manchester City‘s unbeaten streak and matching the 44-game English top-flight unbeaten record, beating them 3-0 at Vicarage Road in February.
At one point, they feared their efforts would amount to nothing as there were talks of the Premier League campaign getting scrapped due to the pandemic.
Thier title win was perhaps paradoxical. They broke the record of earliest title-win, winning it in with seven games to spare. On the other hand, they were also the team to win it quite late, becoming the champions in June.
Following the stellar season amassing a club-record 99 points, Jurgen Klopp has been announced as the 2019/20 Premier League Manager of the Season.
Klopp fended off competition from Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers, and Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder for the annual award.
It is a double delight at Anfield as Trent Alexander-Arnold was earlier named Premier League Young Player of the Season.
